Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art – a pure budo. As such, it not only embodies the physical practices of martial discipline & techniques, but it also unifies the whole human organism – body, heart, moral, mind & spirit. The aim of Aikido is technical excellence, but perhaps as importantly – excellence of the human spirit & character. Through tireless training Aikido helps bring balance to the often-imbalanced demands of modern life and through the development of the human ego. Aikido training includes taijutsu (open-handed techniques), weapons training & breath-practice.
