Aikido of Austin is a community-run dojo that provides martial arts instruction for students of all ages. Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art that focuses on a variety of throwing and pinning techniques to neutralize an attack safely and efficiently. Students training with us gain experience in self-defense, self-discipline, exercise, and confidence-building.
Established in 1984, Aikido of Austin is the longest-serving aikido dojo in Austin. Head instructor Josef Birdsong (6th Dan, Shihan) has been practicing aikido since 1970, and our dojo boasts a large number of experienced assistant instructors. We are a member dojo of the United States Aikido Federation, the official U.S. representative of the International Aikido Federation.
Located at 5501 North Lamar (#C111) in central Austin, we offer multiple classes a day, seven days a week, including children's classes Saturday and Sunday. Please see our class schedule for details.
