MEMBERSHIP DUES

Aikido Of Austin is a community-driven, nonprofit membership organization (501c3) founded by our Chief Instructor, Josef Birdsong Shihan, and managed in partnership with our nonprofit’s board of directors and our advisory board.

Membership dues are billed monthly and include unlimited access to all available classes. Since our nonprofit would not survive as a monthly ad-hoc subscription, all members are expected to pay dues monthly and are encouraged to practice as often as possible.

We also have special offers below for families, students, and more that we encourage potential members to explore, as well as an explanation of optional costs related to testing and special events.

* Exceptions for travel, injury, or financial hardship will be considered by the board of directors on a case-by-case basis

OPTIONAL COSTS

Admin fees dependent upon testing, attending seminars, and unlocking travel access to other associated dojos:

  • Description teDue at time of your test application, testing fees are administrative costs paid to Hombu Dojo as a certification of rank.

    All Adults:

    • 5th Kyu - $75

    • 4th + 3rd Kyu - $85

    • 2nd + 1st Kyu - $95

    • Yudansha - $100

    • Youth (under 18) - $40.xt goes here

  • Once you have received rank after testing, you become a member of an international aikido association called the Shin Kaze Aikido Alliance (SKAA). Annual fees go directly to Hombu Dojo, the international aikido headquarters. To learn more about the Shin Kaze Aikido Alliance, please visit https://shinkazeaikidoalliance.com.

    All test-ranked members pay the following dues:

    • Yudansha (black belts) - $80/year

    • Kyu (5th - 1st belts) - $40/year

    • Youth Ranks (under 18) - $10/year

    All additional fees will be invoiced via ZenPlanner.

  • Aikido Of Austin plans and hosts seminars taught by special guest instructors, as well as our Chief Instructor. These typically take place in the spring and the fall every year. Prices for seminars are shared in advance, and all students are encouraged to attend. Pease keep an eye on our calendar if you are interested in attending or observing our annual seminars.
